October is certainly an busy month here in Birmingham. We are excited for all of the fall festivals, concerts and other events that have the city hustling and bustling lately. The weather is absolutely perfect for an afternoon/evening outside. While most Birmingham native's fall Saturday's are spent in either Tuscaloosa or Auburn, we've found a few other events that are fun fall festivities. Mark your calendars, you won't want to miss these!
- Josh Turner at Rogue Tavern: TONIGHT. Part of the WZZK Downtown After Sundown Fall Series. Best part? It is totally free. Come listen to great music and enjoy some of the area's finest craft beers.
- Race for the Cure: October 11. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Birmingham will host the Race for the Cure at Linn Park. The race is to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer, celebrate survivorship and honor those that lost their battle. The 5K is a great way to get in a good workout for a wonderful cause!
- Cask & Drum: October 11, Cask & Drum is part music festival, part wine and beer tasting, part social gathering of Sound and Spirits. This year has several performers across two stages. Proceeds benefit Magic Moments.
- GEICO 500 Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway: October 18 & 19. Eric Church's Talladega, anyone? Hear that song on 102.5 The Bull this week and be caller number 9 for a chance to snag some free tickets and possible pit passes. Its one of the biggest race weekends in Alabama and only a short drive from Birmingham.
- Magic City Classic and Juicy J: October 25. Yes, you read that correct. Catch rapper Juicy J in concert at Iron City in Birmingham as a part of the Magic City Classic.
- Dracula - Alabama Ballet: October 30-November 1. Horror classic Dracula, choreographed by Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Roger Van Fleteren, returns this Halloween. Based on Bram Stoker’s book, it is a tale of hypnotic power, boundless love and mesmerizing horror.
- Shop Save and Share: October 20-November 2: Presented by the Junior League of Birmingham this event allows you the opportunity to both give and receive this fall. Purchase a card for a $40 donation and receive a 20% discount at the retail partners. Your entire donation will support the over 30 community projects of the Junior League of Birmingham and help them improve the lives of women and children in Birmingham.
