Country, Our Top Ten Summer Playlist

It's no secret that Katie and I are big country music lovers. A couple weekends ago, we attended Rock the South in Cullman, Alabama - a huge two-day country music festival that celebrates the South's recovery of a historic and catastrophic tornado that occurred on April 27, 2011. It was incredible to see thousands gather in this little country town to commemorate and remember what happened three years ago. No matter what the circumstances (or in Alabama's case, what team people pulled for), residents from across the state came together in 2011 to help their surrounding communities in need. The festival has now turned into an annual event, with a fantastic line-up of country music artists who also want to pay tribute to that love Alabamians had for one another.

At the festival, we heard Billy Currington, Little Big Town, Sara Evans and Lynryd Skynrd - just to name a few. Seeing country music performed in Alabama for my first weekend in Birmingham was sure hard to beat, and I didn't think my voice would ever recover after singing Sweet Home Alabama at the top of my lungs, in the middle of a rain storm.

Here's a quick list of our favorite country songs, although narrowing it down to ten tracks proved to be quite a challenge. So if you're like us and have to get up at what seems like the crack of dawn, just put on this playlist for your morning drive and you'll be good to go.
